The Show

Lenka was here! I’d got the ticket to the shoooow…
I reached the venue on time but it had a long queue to come in. When I was in front of the club 30 minutes later, Lenka had already started singing her first song on that night: Trouble Is A Friend. (Btw apparently there is another cute video of this song in digital puppet show way.)

Lenka performed all songs in her album (with cute backscreen… owl is my favorite!). Plus 2 new songs she made about a boy *winks*, 1 song for her ex-boyfriend (it’s kinda sad), her version of Friday I’m in Love (The Cure) and All My Bells Are Ringing for the Christmas festive mood (love the part: I’ll wrap it with a ribbon and a bow).

I am deeply in love with her songs which are cute, cheerful and meaningful. Like in Anything I’m Not: Gimme a break a little escape, I am so tired of being me, I wanna be new and different, Anything I’m not. Don’t you all sometimes feel like this, hate yourself when doing wrong things over and over again, or when you meet someone taller someone more beautiful that you think you could not beat them. Even though we’re happy being us, sometimes we want to getaway from this harsh reality! Okay, maybe it’s a little bit too much, cause I’m happy with my life now. But still this Lenka’s song is so touchy.

Another meaningful song I like is Live Like You’re Dying. OMG It always successfully slaps on me, what I’ve been doing with my time? I procrastinated too much, I did what I don’t like and sometimes against my principle, I didn’t chase my dream. Take every moment; you know that you own them. It’s all up to you to do whatever you choose. Live like you’re dying and never stop trying. It’s all you can do, use what’s been given to you.

I also love We Will Not Grow Old, it was soundtrack of my solo traveling to Borneo. I don’t know why, maybe because there’s a part: Oh we’ve got a long long way to go to get there, we’ll get there. Started listening to this song in MRT on my way to airport to start my 5 days journey and that would be still a long long way to go to get back home again, because deep inside my heart I was quite scared (ha-ha) and this song was cheering me up! Actually as Lenka told us in the concert about this song, she and friends when they were young didn’t want to grow old because they thought adult life is so complicated and everything. Yes, indeed. She also explained about song Dangerous and Sweet that previously I didn’t understand what this song is all about, it’s about the time when she and her girl best friend had a big fight.

I also love…. okay, I love all of her songs!

Before she finished all of her songs, she and her bands excused themselves leaving us just like that. The light was still off so we hope that she’s joking and started to call out her name. And yes, she then was back to the stage and sang 2 more songs. One of them is Like a Song with acapella and a war radio transmission as the backsound, quite sad and creepy.

At 10 PM the show was finished. For those above 18 years old could enter the Zirca MegaClub again for free. I would be glad to hangout a little bit more there, but the fun should be stopped at that time because the next day I was still going to work, gahhh! It’s quite ironic that Lenka concert (with all those cute songs safely consumed by under-age) could only be seen by people above 16 years old, because the venue was in a club (but they’re not selling any alcohol at that time only fro-yo haha). While Lady Gaga with all her sexy costumes and lyrics held concert in Fort Canning Park with many kids audiences.
