What Up!

The World Cup fever is back! I don’t like football but I love Euro Cup and World Cup, who doesn’t? I always support for England. I started watching these since World Cup 2002, when I was living in Jakarta, influenced by my Dad. He brought home a nice printed schedule from his office. Then me and my little brother became so excited even more than Dad himself. I bought the cassette tape of WC2002 songs (you know, cassette was still popular at that time :P). When England lose, I went to school wearing a black cardigan. Then teacher asked me to put off that jacket during exam time. I still don’t see the correlation of exam and jacket.

Two years later, there came Euro Cup 2004. I was living alone in Bandung at that time studying in college. It was already school holiday, so I was free to watch any midnight matches without parents bugging me around to turn off TV and go to sleep. I didn’t have a nice printed schedule like in WC2002, then I drew my own schedule with the flags and everything. Although I’m not so good at art, I was quite creative back then :P. The official song of it was Força by Nelly Furtado, and it’s still my most favorite football championship song ever!

Then, World Cup 2006… no memorable things, except the silly web game to get the highest score of Zidane headbutting Materazzi. When Euro Cup 2008 held, I was already working in Jakarta, so not much to see cause I need to wake up early. Oh how I miss school life! And now, I am in Singapore, in this materialized country World Cup is not being aired freely, fuck up!!! We need to subscribe to tv cable channel by Singtel or Starhub for $70.62 until $94.16 (plus $53.40 if you’re a new signed-up costumer). Local TV Channel 5 only aired the opening match, semi-final and final match. They even didn’t air the opening ceremony last night (but I saw in the newspaper, they will air its encore tonight). So sad. I live with only one house-mate now and she seems not so interested in World Cup. Then I found some friends who want to split the price, subscribe it in one friends’ house, then we’ll watch it together there. Yes it will be more fun to watch football together with many people, but it’s not so enjoyable to watch in other people’s house at midnight. Also, like now, all friends in that house are not at home, they’re all going oversea. So, I could not watch any matches in this weekend at that house. I tried to do web streaming last night, but it’s not so smooth. So sad. I think I’m gonna go to one of these places with friends to watch ENG vs USA tonight 2.30 AM (or should I say tomorrow morning?).

I love how Shakira shakes her body 😀

Happy World Cup, everyone!
