Review: Beach Hotel Singapore

Looking for budget accommodation in Singapore is a little bit tricky. Especially if you are traveling with family who wants to have a little bit privacy, not like a guesthouse or backpackers hostel. Accommodation in Singapore are very expensive compared to Indonesia. Hostel in Singapore usually has the same price like 3 stars hotel in Indonesia.

Fortunately I found this 2 stars hotel named Beach Hotel located in Beach Road, obviously. I booked 1 double bed room for 2 nights in Traveloka for about 1,5millions Rupiahs, 40 days before the stay. The sooner you book the place, the better hotel and price you can get. The room is well-equipped with TV, microwave, kettle, and fridge. Wifi connection and shower water heater were working perfectly. I have no complain at all regarding its facilities.

The location is very strategic just 5 minutes walking distance to Bugis MRT and many bus stops around. We could walk to National Library, Bras Basah, Bugis Junction, Bugis Street, Arab Street and Kampong Glam. There is small convenience store nearby and Subway restaurant across the building, yay! (Can someone bring Subway to Jakarta, please?) The hotel is located on the second floor of the building. On the first floor there is a Chinese restaurant. The building is in the corner of Beach Road and Liang Seah Street where the street at night becomes packed with traditional foods stalls. Maybe that’s one of the drawbacks of this place, it could get crowded in the nights especially in the weekends. However we were not annoyed with the noise because we were so tired of walking all day and could sleep very well. What amazed me was the street becomes really clean in the morning like there was nothing happened at night.

The staff in receptionist desk was a Philippine lady and I think she’s friendly but we did not talk too much because we knew the ways around. They provided many Singapore brochures for tourists on the main entrance near the elevator. They did not have in-house cafe or restaurant, so the room price did not come with breakfast. I think that is not a big problem because then you have a reason to explore Singaporean local breakfast/brunch outside which is more tempting than hotel foods.
In conclusion, this budget hotel has a good location, great price and fully equipped facilities inside the room. It has only 33 rooms so better to book earlier. Overall we had a good stay in Beach Hotel, and perhaps would come back there again next time we go to Singapore.
